Culinary Delights

Patron Henning Heise, Zwei-Hauben-Koch, regales his guests by a friendly, attentive service and fine cuisine which includes regional specialities and fish freshly-caught in Lake Constance.

Looking over Lake Constance from the cosy restaurants which have seating for 30 and 50 people respectively, you have a wonderful view of the romantic village of Meersburg on the opposite shore as well as the distant mountain peaks in the Austrian and Swiss Alps. During the warmer seasons the terrace is a very inviting place where you can while away the time.

An honourable history

The building is situated on a crossing point which has been used since Roman times and was first mentioned in a document from the year 1272 when the ownership changed hands from the Reichenau Monastry to the future Mainau of the Order of the German Knights. At that time the 'grand tavern' was already offering food and lodging and therefore the Ringhotel Schiff am See can be counted as one of the oldest accommodation houses in Germany. As a consequence of the Pressburger Peace (1805) the guest house became the "sovereign tavern" of the Grand Duke of Baden and later ended up in private hands. It was acquired by the present owner in the middle of the last century.
